The only released recording of Paolo Losi’s original compositions offers an intimate portrait of the late pianist’s sensibility and abilities. Paolo, a highly respected pianist on the London Jazz scene, left an indelible mark with his unparalleled talent and unique persona. Known for his uncompromising approach to music and life, as well as his wry sense of humour, Paolo endeared himself to many before his untimely passing in the summer of 2018.

His trio, featuring Dave Jones on basses and Eric Ford on drums, provided an ideal medium to express his creativity as a composer, demonstrate his command of the instrument, and develop the interplay that only high-level musicians can consistently achieve—the true magic of jazz.

Despite his sudden departure, Paolo’s musical legacy lives on through this album, titled after the track "What Can I Do." Recorded just months prior to his passing, these sessions offer a glimpse into the depths of Paolo’s creative spirit. Like unfinished paintings or sculptural masterpieces, this recording captures the essence of Paolo’s life in full bloom.

The result of a stalled project initiated by Dawid and Jakub, "Lamprey View" is a title in the tradition of "Nude Ants" ; French (l'imprévu) for "the unexpected" because of musical surprises which happened on the session in 2019, followed by less welcome surprises - Covid and the demise of the project.
